حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ لَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أَتُحِبُّونَ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ كَيْفَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ؟ فَدَعَا بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، فَاغْتَرَفَ غَرْفَةً بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى فَتَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ أُخْرَى فَجَمَعَ بِهَا يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ أُخْرَى فَغَسَلَ بِهَا يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثُمَّ أَخَذَ أُخْرَى فَغَسَلَ بِهَا يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى، ثُمَّ قَبَضَ قَبْضَةً مِنَ الْمَاءِ ثُمَّ نَفَضَ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهَا رَأْسَهُ وَأُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَبَضَ قَبْضَةً أُخْرَى مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَرَشَّ عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَفِيهَا النَّعْلُ ثُمَّ مَسَحَهَا بِيَدَيْهِ يَدٍ فَوْقَ الْقَدَمِ وَيَدٍ تَحْتَ النَّعْلِ ثُمَّ صَنَعَ بِالْيُسْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
English Translation
Do you like that I should show you how the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم performed ablution? He then called for a vessel of water and took out a handful of water with his right hand. He then rinsed his mouth and snuffed up water. He then took out another handful of water and washed his face by both his hands together. He then took out another handful of water and washed his right hand and then washed his left hand by taking out another. He then took out some water and shook off his hand and wiped his head and ears with it. He then took out a handful of water and sprinkled it over his right foot in his shoe and wiped the upper part of the foot with his one hand, and beneath the shoe with his other hand. He then did the same with his left foot.
Urdu Translation
ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے ہم سے کہا: کیا تم پسند کرتے ہو کہ میں تمہیں دکھاؤں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کس طرح وضو کرتے تھے؟ پھر انہوں نے ایک برتن منگوایا جس میں پانی تھا اور داہنے ہاتھ سے ایک چلو پانی لے کر کلی کی اور ناک میں پانی ڈالا، پھر ایک اور چلو پانی لے کر اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں سے اپنا منہ دھویا، پھر ایک چلو اور پانی لیا اس سے اپنا داہنا ہاتھ دھویا، پھر ایک چلو اور لے کر بایاں ہاتھ دھویا، پھر تھوڑا سا پانی لے کر اپنا ہاتھ جھاڑا، اور اس سے اپنے سر اور دونوں کانوں کا مسح کیا، پھر ایک مٹھی پانی لے کر داہنے پاؤں پر ڈالا جس میں جوتا پہنے ہوئے تھے، پھر اس پر اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو اس طرح سے پھیرا کہ ایک ہاتھ پاؤں کے اوپر اور ایک ہاتھ نعل ( جوتا ) کے نیچے تھا، پھر بائیں پاؤں کے ساتھ بھی ایسا ہی کیا ۱؎۔

When the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم went (outside) to relieve himself, he went to a far-off place.
Another tradition on the authority of Anas has:
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي السَّدُوسِيَّ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ هُوَ ابْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ، وَقَالَ شُعْبَةُ: وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ، وقَالَ وُهَيْبٌ: عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، فَلْيَتَعَوَّذْ بِاللهِ.
O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee. Shubah said: Anas sometimes reported the words: I take refuge in Allah.
Narrated Zayd Ibn Arqam:
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ، فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ، فَلْيَقُلْ: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ.
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils.
Narrated Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّمَا أَنَا لَكُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْوَالِدِ، أُعَلِّمُكُمْ، فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ، فَلا يَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلَا يَسْتَطِبْ بِيَمِينِهِ، وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالرِّمَّةِ.
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as saying: I am like father to you. When any of you goes to privy, he should not face or turn his back towards the qiblah. He should not cleanse with his right hand. He (the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) also commanded the Muslims to use three stones and forbade them to use dung or decayed bone.
