Narrated by: Narrated Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا , wife of Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم:
ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ یعنی قعنبی نے، مالک کی سند سے، عبداللہ بن عبدالرحمٰن بن معمر انصاری کی سند سے، عائشہ کے آزاد کردہ غلام ابو یونس کی سند سے بیان کیا,ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ يَعْنِي الْقَعْنَبِيَّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ مَوْلَى عَائِشَةَ،عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا، قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ عَلَى الْبَابِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَأَنَا أُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ، فَأَغْتَسِلُ وَأَصُومُ . فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّكَ لَسْتَ مِثْلَنَا، قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ. فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَالَ: وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ أَخْشَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَأَعْلَمَكُمْ بِمَا أَتَّبِعُ.
English Translation
A man said to Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم: Messenger of Allah, I was overtaken by dawn while I was sexually defiled, and I want to keep fast. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: I am also overtaken by dawn while I am in the state of sexual defilement ; I also want to keep fast. I take a bath and I keep fast. The man said: Messenger of Allah, you are not like us ; Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم became angry and said: I swear by Allah, I hope I shall be the most fearful of you of Allah, and most familiar of you with what I follow.
Urdu Translation
ایک شخص نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے دروازے پر کھڑے ہو کر کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میں جنابت کی حالت میں صبح کرتا ہوں اور روزہ رکھنا چاہتا ہوں؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میں بھی جنابت کی حالت میں صبح کرتا ہوں اور روزہ رکھنے کا ارادہ رکھتا ہوں پھر غسل کرتا ہوں اور روزہ رکھ لیتا ہوں ، اس شخص نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ تو ہماری طرح نہیں ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کے اگلے اور پچھلے گناہ معاف کر رکھے ہیں، اس پر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم غصہ ہو گئے اور فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم! مجھے امید ہے کہ میں تم میں اللہ تعالیٰ سے سب سے زیادہ ڈرنے والا ہوں، اور مجھے کیا کرنا ہے اس بات کو بھی تم سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں ۔

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شَبُّوَيْهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ النَّحْوِيِّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 183، فَكَانَ النَّاسُ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّوْا الْعَتَمَةَ حَرُمَ عَلَيْهِمُ الطَّعَامُ وَالشَّرَابُ وَالنِّسَاءُ، وَصَامُوا إِلَى الْقَابِلَةِ، فَاخْتَانَ رَجُلٌ نَفْسَهُ فَجَامَعَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَقَدْ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ وَلَمْ يُفْطِرْ، فَأَرَادَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ ذَلِكَ يُسْرًا لِمَنْ بَقِيَ وَرُخْصَةً وَمَنْفَعَةً، فَقَالَ سُبْحَانَهُ: عَلِمَ اللَّهُ أَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 187 الْآيَةَ، وَكَانَ هَذَا مِمَّا نَفَعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ النَّاسَ وَرَخَّصَ لَهُمْ وَيَسَّرَ .
Quranic verse: O ye who believe! fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you During the lifetime of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, when the people offered night prayer, they were asked to abstain from food and drink and (intercourse with) women, they kept fast till the next night. A man betrayed himself and had intercourse with his wife after he had offered the night prayer, and he did not break his fast. So Allah, the Exalted, intended to make it (fasting) easy for those who survived, thus providing a concession and utility. Allah, the Glorified, said: Allah knoweth what ye used to do secretly among yourselves. By this Allah benefited the people and provided concession and ease to them.
Al Bara (bin Azib) رضی اللہ عنہ said:
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ، قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا صَامَ فَنَامَ لَمْ يَأْكُلْ إِلَى مِثْلِهَا، وَإِنَّ صِرْمَةَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَتَى امْرَأَتَهُ وَكَانَ صَائِمًا، فَقَالَ: عِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ ؟ قَالَتْ: لَا، لَعَلِّي أَذْهَبُ فَأَطْلُبُ لَكَ شَيْئًا، فَذَهَبَتْ وَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنُهُ فَجَاءَتْ، فَقَالَتْ: خَيْبَةً لَكَ، فَلَمْ يَنْتَصِفْ النَّهَارُ حَتَّى غُشِيَ عَلَيْهِ وَكَانَ يَعْمَلُ يَوْمَهُ فِي أَرْضِهِ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَنَزَلَتْ: أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ قَرَأَ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: مِنَ الْفَجْرِ سورة البقرة آية 187 .
“When a man fasted and slept, he could not eat till (another nigh) like it. ” Sarmah bin Qais Al Ansari رضی اللہ عنہ came to his wife while he was fasting and asked her Do you have something (to eat)? She replied “No”. Let me go and seek something for you. So, she went out and sleep overcame him. She came (back) and said (to him). You are deprived (of food). He fainted before noon. He used to work all day long at his land. This was mentioned to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. So the following verse was revealed. “Permitted to you on the nights of the fasts, is the approach to your wives. They are your garments and ye are their garments. Allah knoweth what yes used to do secretly amongst yourselves. But he turned to you and forgave you. So now associate with them and seek what Allah hath ordained for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn appears to you. He recited up to the words “of dawn”.
Salamah bin Al Akwa رضی اللہ عنہsaid:
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُضَرَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ سورة البقرة آية 184، كَانَ مَنْ أَرَادَ مِنَّا أَنْ يُفْطِرَ وَيَفْتَدِيَ فَعَلَ، حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا فَنَسَخَتْهَا .
“After the revelation of the verse “For those who can do it (with hardship) is a ransom, the feeding of one, that is indigent, is one of us intended to leave fast and pay ransom, he could do so. ” until the verse following it was revealed and abrogated the (previous) verse. ”
Narrator Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما :
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ النَّحْوِيِّ، عَنْ عِكْرَمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ سورة البقرة آية 184، فَكَانَ مَنْ شَاءَ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتَدِيَ بِطَعَامِ مِسْكِينٍ افْتَدَى وَتَمَّ لَهُ صَوْمُهُ، فَقَالَ: فَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ وَأَنْ تَصُومُوا خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 184، وقَالَ: فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ سورة البقرة آية 185 .
The Quranic verse “For those who can do it (with hardship) is a ransom, the feeding of one, that is indigent” said “If one of them wished to pay ransom by providing food to an indigent person he could pay ransom. . Thus, his fast was complete. Allaah, the Exalted pronounced “But he that will give more of his own free will, it is better for him”. Again he pronounced “So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting. ” But, if anyone is ill or on a journey the prescribed period (should be made up) by days later.
