Narrated by Narrated Abdur-Rahman bin Samurah رضی اللہ عنہ :

ہم سے محمد بن صباح البزاز نے بیان کیا، ہم سے ہشیم نے بیان کیا، ہمیں یونس اور منصور نے حسن کی سند سے خبر دی , عبدالرحمٰن بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَزَّازُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْصُورٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ لَا تَسْأَلِ الإِمَارَةَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا أُعْطِيتَهَا عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ وُكِلْتَ فِيهَا إِلَى نَفْسِكَ وَإِنْ أُعْطِيتَهَا عَنْ غَيْرِ مَسْأَلَةٍ أُعِنْتَ عَلَيْهَا .

Urdu Translation

اردو

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا :اے عبدالرحمٰن بن سمرہ! امارت و اقتدار کی طلب مت کرنا کیونکہ اگر تم نے اسے مانگ کر حاصل کیا تو تم اس معاملے میں اپنے نفس کے سپرد کر دئیے جاؤ گے اور اگر وہ تمہیں بن مانگے ملی تو اللہ کی توفیق و مدد تمہارے شامل حال ہو گی ۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to me: Abdul al-Rahman bin Samurah, do not ask for the position of commander, for if you are given it after asking you will be left to discharge it yourself, but if you are given it without asking you will be helped to discharge it.
