ہم سے وہب بن بقیہ نے خالد کی سند سے، محمد بن عمرو سے، ابو سلمہ کی سند سے, ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْبَلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ، وَلَا يَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْبَلُ الْهَدِيَّةَ، وَلَا يَأْكُلُ الصَّدَقَةَ، زَادَ: فَأَهْدَتْ لَهُ يَهُودِيَّةٌ بِخَيْبَرَ شَاةً مَصْلِيَّةً سَمَّتْهَا، فَأَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا وَأَكَلَ الْقَوْمُ، فَقَالَ: ارْفَعُوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا مَسْمُومَةٌ، فَمَاتَ بِشْرُ بْنُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَعْرُورٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى الْيَهُودِيَّةِ: مَا حَمَلَكِ عَلَى الَّذِي صَنَعْتِ ؟ قَالَتْ: إِنْ كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا لَمْ يَضُرَّكَ الَّذِي صَنَعْتُ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ مَلِكًا أَرَحْتُ النَّاسَ مِنْكَ، فَأَمَرَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُتِلَتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ: مَا زِلْتُ أَجِدُ مِنَ الْأَكْلَةِ الَّتِي أَكَلْتُ بِخَيْبَرَ، فَهَذَا أَوَانُ قَطَعَتْ أَبْهَرِي.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم would accept a present, but would not accept alms (sadaqah). And Wahb bin Baqiyyah narrated to us, elsewhere, from Khalid, from Muhammad ibn Amr said on the authority of Abu Salamah, and he did not mention the name of Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم used to accept presents but not alms (sadaqah). This version adds: So a Jewess presented him at Khaybar with a roasted sheep which she had poisoned. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ate of it and the people also ate. He then said: Take away your hands (from the food), for it has informed me that it is poisoned. Bishr ibn al-Bara ibn Ma'rur al-Ansari died. So he (the Prophet) sent for the Jewess (and said to her): What motivated you to do the work you have done? She said: If you were a prophet, it would not harm you; but if you were a king, I should rid the people of you. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم then ordered regarding her and she was killed. He then said about the pain of which he died: I continued to feel pain from the morsel which I had eaten at Khaybar. This is the time when it has cut off my aorta.
Urdu Translation
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہدیہ قبول فرماتے تھے، اور صدقہ نہیں کھاتے تھے، نیز اسی سند سے ایک اور مقام پر ابوہریرہ کے ذکر کے بغیر صرف ابوسلمہ سے روایت ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہدیہ قبول فرماتے تھے اور صدقہ نہیں کھاتے تھے، اس میں اتنا اضافہ ہے کہ آپ کو خیبر کی ایک یہودی عورت نے ایک بھنی ہوئی بکری تحفہ میں بھیجی جس میں اس نے زہر ملا رکھا تھا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس میں سے کھایا اور لوگوں نے بھی کھایا، پھر آپ نے لوگوں سے فرمایا: اپنے ہاتھ روک لو، اس ( گوشت ) نے مجھے بتایا ہے کہ وہ زہر آلود ہے چنانچہ بشر بن براء بن معرور انصاری مر گئے، تو آپ نے اس یہودی عورت کو بلا کر فرمایا: ایسا کرنے پر تجھے کس چیز نے آمادہ کیا؟ وہ بولی: اگر آپ نبی ہیں تو جو میں نے کیا ہے وہ آپ کو نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتا، اور اگر آپ بادشاہ ہیں تو میں نے لوگوں کو آپ سے نجات دلا دی، چنانچہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حکم دیا تو وہ قتل کر دی گئی، پھر آپ نے اپنی اس تکلیف کے بارے میں فرمایا: جس میں آپ نے وفات پائی کہ میں برابر خیبر کے اس کھانے کے اثر کو محسوس کرتا رہا یہاں تک کہ اب وہ وقت آ گیا کہ اس نے میری شہ رگ کاٹ دی۔

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِيَادٌ، عَنْ أَبِي رِمْثَةَ، قَالَ: انْطَلَقْتُ مَعَ أَبِي نَحْوَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَبِي: ابْنُكَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ، قَالَ: حَقًّا، قَالَ: أَشْهَدُ بِهِ، قَالَ: فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِنْ ثَبْتِ شَبَهِي فِي أَبِي وَمِنْ حَلِفِ أَبِي عَلَيَّ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَجْنِي عَلَيْكَ وَلَا تَجْنِي عَلَيْهِ، وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَلا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى [سورة الأنعام آية 164] .
I went to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم with my father. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم then asked my father: Is this your son? He replied: Yes, by the Lord of the Kabah. He again said: Is it true? He said: I bear witness to it. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم then smiled for my resemblance with my father, and for the fact that my father took an oath upon me. He then said: He will not bring evil on you, nor will you bring evil on him. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم recited the verse: No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another.
Narrated Anas bin Malik رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: مَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُفِعَ إِلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ فِيهِ قِصَاصٌ إِلَّا أَمَرَ فِيهِ بِالْعَفْوِ .
I never saw the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم that some dispute which involved retaliation was brought to him but he commanded regarding it for remission.
Narrated Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قُتِلَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَى وَلِيِّ الْمَقْتُولِ، فَقَالَ الْقَاتِلُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ قَتْلَهُ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْوَلِيِّ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ إِنْ كَانَ صَادِقًا ثُمَّ قَتَلْتَهُ دَخَلْتَ النَّارَ، قَالَ: فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ مَكْتُوفًا بِنِسْعَةٍ فَخَرَجَ يَجُرُّ نِسْعَتَهُ فَسُمِّيَ ذَا النِّسْعَةِ .
A man was killed in the lifetime of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. The matter was brought to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He entrusted him to the legal guardian of the slain. The slayer said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by Allah, I did not intend to kill him. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said to the legal guardian: Now if he is true and you kill him, you will enter Hell-fire. So he let him go. His hands were tied with a strap. He came out pulling his strap. Hence he was called Dhu an-Nis'ah (possessor of strap).
Narrated Wail bin Hujr رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ الْجُشَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمْزَةُ أَبُو عُمَرَ الْعَائِذِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ وَائِلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي وَائِلُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ جِيءَ بِرَجُلٍ قَاتِلٍ فِي عُنُقِهِ النِّسْعَةُ، قَالَ: فَدَعَا وَلِيَّ الْمَقْتُولِ، فَقَالَ: أَتَعْفُو ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: أَفَتَأْخُذُ الدِّيَةَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: أَفَتَقْتُلُ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: اذْهَبْ بِهِ، فَلَمَّا وَلَّى، قَالَ: أَتَعْفُو ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: أَفَتَأْخُذُ الدِّيَةَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: أَفَتَقْتُلُ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: اذْهَبْ بِهِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ، قَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّكَ إِنْ عَفَوْتَ عَنْهُ يَبُوءُ بِإِثْمِهِ وَإِثْمِ صَاحِبِهِ، قَالَ: فَعَفَا عَنْهُ، قَالَ: فَأَنَا رَأَيْتُهُ يَجُرُّ النِّسْعَةَ .
I was with the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم when a man who was a murderer and had a strap round his neck was brought to him. He then called the legal guardian of the victim and asked him: Do you forgive him? He said: No. He asked: Will you accept the blood-money? He said: No. He asked: Will you kill him? He said: Yes. He said: Take him. When he turned his back, he said: Do you forgive him? He said: No. He said: Will you accept the blood-money? He said: No. He said: Will you kill him? He said: Yes. He said: Take him. After repeating all this a fourth time, he said: If you forgive him, he will bear the burden of his own sin and the sin of the victim. He then forgave him. He (the narrator) said: I saw him pulling the strap.
