Narrated by: Narrated al-Wazi ibn Zari: Umm Aban, daughter of al-Wazi ibn Zari, quoting his grandfather, who was a member of the deputation of AbdulQays, said:
ہم سے محمد بن عیسیٰ بن الطباع نے بیان کیا، ہم سے مطر بن عبدالرحمٰن الاعنق نے بیان کیا، مجھ سے ام ابان بنت الوازع بن زارع رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا، زارع سے روایت ہے، وہ وفد عبدالقیس میں تھے وہ کہتے ہیں

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنُ الطَّبَّاعِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَطَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْنَقُ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ أَبَانَ بِنْتُ الْوَازِعِ بْنِ زَارِعٍ، عَنْ جِدِّهَا زَارِعٍ، وَكَانَ فِي وَفْدِ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ، فَجَعَلْنَا نَتَبَادَرُ مِنْ رَوَاحِلِنَا، فَنُقَبِّلُ يَدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرِجْلَهُ، قَالَ: وَانْتَظَرَ الْمُنْذِرُ الْأَشَجُّ حَتَّى أَتَى عَيْبَتَهُ، فَلَبِسَ ثَوْبَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: إِنَّ فِيكَ خَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللَّهُ: الْحِلْمُ وَالْأَنَاةُ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَنَا أَتَخَلَّقُ بِهِمَا أَمْ اللَّهُ جَبَلَنِي عَلَيْهِمَا ؟ قَالَ: بَلِ اللَّهُ جَبَلَكَ عَلَيْهِمَا، قَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَبَلَنِي عَلَى خَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ .
English Translation
When we came to Madina, we raced to be first to dismount and kiss the hand and foot of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. But al-Mundhir al-Ashajj waited until he came to the bundle of his clothes. He put on his two garments and then he went to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. He said to him: You have two characteristics which Allah likes: gentleness and deliberation. He asked: Have I acquired them or has Allah has created (them) my nature? He replied: No, Allah has created (them) in your nature. He then said: Praise be to Allah Who has created in my nature two characteristics which Allah and His Messenger like.
Urdu Translation
جب ہم مدینہ پہنچے تو اپنے اونٹوں سے جلدی جلدی اترنے لگے اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ہاتھوں اور پیروں کا بوسہ لینے لگے، اور منذر اشج انتظار میں رہے یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے کپڑے کے صندوق کے پاس آئے اور دو کپڑے نکال کر پہن لیے، پھر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے تو آپ نے ان سے فرمایا: تم میں دو خصلتیں ہیں جو اللہ کو محبوب ہیں: ایک بردباری اور دوسری وقار و متانت انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا یہ دونوں خصلتیں جو مجھ میں ہیں میں نے اختیار کیا ہے؟ ( کسبی ہیں ) ( یا وہبی ) اللہ نے مجھ میں پیدائش سے یہ خصلتیں رکھی ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: بلکہ اللہ نے پیدائش سے ہی تم میں یہ خصلتیں رکھی ہیں، اس پر انہوں نے کہا: اللہ تیرا شکر ہے جس نے مجھے دو ایسی خصلتوں کے ساتھ پیدا کیا جن دونوں کو اللہ اور اس کے رسول پسند فرماتے ہیں۔

حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الشُّعَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَنَسٌ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَحْسَنِ النَّاسِ خُلُقًا، فَأَرْسَلَنِي يَوْمًا لِحَاجَةٍ، فَقُلْتُ: وَاللَّهِ لَا أَذهَبُ وَفِي نَفْسِي أَنْ أَذهَبَ لِمَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: فَخَرَجْتُ حَتَّى أَمُرَّ عَلَى صِبْيَانٍ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ فِي السُّوقِ، فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَابِضٌ بِقَفَايَ مِنْ وَرَائِي، فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَضْحَكُ، فَقَالَ: يَا أُنَيسُ، اذْهَبْ حَيْثُ أَمَرْتُكَ ، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، أَنَا أَذّهَبُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ خَدَمْتُهُ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ أَوْ تِسْعَ سِنِينَ، مَا عَلِمْتُ قَالَ لِشَيْءٍ صَنَعْتُ: لِمَ فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ؟ وَلَا لِشَيْءٍ تَرَكْتُ: هَلَّا فَعَلْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا .
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم was one of the best of men in character. One day he sent me to do something, and I said: I swear by Allah that i will not go. But in my heart I felt that I should go to do what the prophet of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم had commanded me; so I went out and came upon some boys who were playing in the street. All of a sudden the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم who had come up behind caught me by the back of the neck, and when I looked at him he was laughing. He said: Go where I ordered you, little Anas. I replied: Yes, I am going, Messenger of Allah! Anas said: I swear by Allah, I served him for seven or nine years, and he never said to me about a thing which I had done: Why did you do such and such? Nor about a thing which I left: Why did not do such and such?
Narrated Anas bin Malik رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: خَدَمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ لَيْسَ كُلُّ أَمْرِي كَمَا يَشْتَهِي صَاحِبِي أَنْ أَكُونَ عَلَيْهِ، مَا قَالَ لِي فِيهَا: أُفٍّ قَطُّ، وَمَا قَالَ لِي: لِمَ فَعَلْتَ هَذَا، أَوْ: أَلَّا فَعَلْتَ هَذَا .
I served the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم at Madina for ten years. I was a boy. Every work that I did was not according to the desire of my master, but he never said to me: Fie, nor did he say to me: Why did you do this? or Why did you not do this?
Narrated Abdullah bin Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما :
حَدَّثَنَا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا قَابُوسُ بْنُ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِنَّ الْهَدْيَ الصَّالِحَ، وَالسَّمْتَ الصَّالِحَ، وَالِاقْتِصَادَ، جُزْءٌ مِنْ خَمْسَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ .
The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: Good way, dignified good bearing and moderation are the twenty-fifth part of Prophecy.
Narrated Muadh bin Jabal رضی اللہ عنہ :
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ السَّرْحِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْحُومٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: مَنْ كَظَمَ غَيْظًا وَهُوَ قَادِرٌ عَلَى أَنْ يُنْفِذَهُ، دَعَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، حَتَّى يُخَيِّرَهُ اللَّهُ مِن الْحُورِ الْعِينِ مَا شَاءَ ، قال أَبُو دَاوُد: اسْمُ أَبِي مَرْحُومٍ: عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ.
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: if anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to give vent to it, Allah, the Exalted, will call him on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of all creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes. Abu Dawud said: The name if the transmitter Abu Marhum is Abdur-Rahman bin Maimun
