Narrated by It was narrated that 'Ali رضی اللہ عنہ said:

ہم سے علی بن محمد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے وکیع نے بیان کیا، ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، ابواسحاق نے حارث کی سند سے, علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

النص العربي

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُسْتَخْلِفًا أَحَدًا عَنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ لَاسْتَخْلَفْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ .

Urdu Translation

اردو

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :اگر میں بغیر مشورہ کے کسی کو خلیفہ مقرر کرتا تو ام عبد کے بیٹے ( عبداللہ بن مسعود ) کو مقرر کرتا ۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

The Messenger of Allah said: 'If I were to appoint anyone as my successor without consulting anyone, I would have appointed Ibn Umm 'Abd.'
