ہم سے ابوبکر نے بیان کیا، ہم سے عبداللہ بن ادریس نے بیان کیا، داؤد کی سند سے، شعبی کی سند سے, ابوجبیرہ بن ضحاک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَبِيرَةَ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، قَالَ: فِينَا نَزَلَتْ مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَلا تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ[ سورة الحجرات آية 11]، قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالرَّجُلُ مِنَّا لَهُ الِاسْمَانِ وَالثَّلَاثَةُ، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُبَّمَا دَعَاهُمْ بِبَعْضِ تِلْكَ الْأَسْمَاءِ ، فَيُقَالُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّهُ يَغْضَبُ مِنْ هَذَا، فَنَزَلَتْ وَلا تَنَابَزُوا بِالأَلْقَابِ [سورة الحجرات آية 11].
Urdu Translation
ولا تنابزوا بالألقاب ہم انصار کے بارے میں نازل ہوئی ہے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب ہمارے پاس ( مدینہ ) تشریف لائے تو ہم میں سے ہر ایک کے دو دو، تین تین نام تھے، بسا اوقات نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم انہیں ان کا کوئی ایک نام لے کر پکارتے، تو آپ سے عرض کیا جاتا :اللہ کے رسول! فلاں شخص فلاں نام سے غصہ ہوتا ہے، تو اس وقت یہ آیت کریمہ نازل ہوئی: ولا تنابزوا بالألقاب کسی کو برے القاب سے نہ پکارو ۔
English Translation
Meaning of the narration
(Allah's saying) Nor insult one another by nicknames(Surah Al Hujarat 49:11) was revealed concerning us, the Ansar. When the Prophet(ﷺ) came to us, a man among us would have two or three names, and the Prophet(ﷺ) might call him by one of those names, only to be told: O Messenger of Allah(ﷺ), he does not like that name. Then: Nor insult one another by nicknames. was revealed.
