مجھ سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا ہم سے عثمان بن عمر نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا ہم کوعلی بن المبارک نے خبر دی ‘ انہوں نے کہا ہم سے یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر نے ‘ انہیں ابوسلمہ نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَقْرَءُونَ التَّوْرَاةَ بِالْعِبْرَانِيَّةِ وَيُفَسِّرُونَهَا بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ لأَهْلِ الإِسْلاَمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ لاَ تُصَدِّقُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ، وَلاَ تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا ‏{‏آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ‏}‏ ‏"‏‏.‏ الآيَةَ‏.‏

Urdu Translation

اردو

اہل کتاب توریت عبرانی زبان میں پڑھتے تھے اور اس کی تفسیر مسلمانوں کے لیے عربی میں کرتے تھے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اہل کتاب کی نہ تصدیق کرو اور نہ ان کی تکذیب کرو کیونکہ ہم ایمان لائے اللہ پر اور اس پر جو ہم پر نازل ہو ااور جو ہم سے پہلے تم پر ناز ل ہوا ۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

The people of the Book used to read the Torah in Hebrew and then explain it in Arabic to the Muslims. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said (to the Muslims). "Do not believe the people of the Book, nor disbelieve them, but say, 'We believe in Allah and whatever is revealed to us, and whatever is revealed to you.' "
