أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، عَنْ بِشْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُفَضَّلِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنِ الطِّيبِ عِنْدَ الْإِحْرَامِ ؟ فَقَالَ: لَأَنْ أَطَّلِيَ بِالْقَطِرَانِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَائِشَةَ، فَقَالَتْ: يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أُطَيِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَيَطُوفُ فِي نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ يُصْبِحُ يَنْضَحُ طِيبًا .
English Translation
I asked Ibn 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہا about wearing perfume when entering Ihram and he said: 'If I were to be daubed with tar that would be dearer to me than that, I mentioned that to 'Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا and she said: 'May Allah have mercy on Abu 'Abdur-Rahman. I used to put perfume on the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then he would go around his wives, then in the morning he would be smelling strongly of perfume.
Urdu Translation
میں نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے احرام کے وقت خوشبو کے متعلق پوچھا، تو انہوں نے کہا: تارکول لگا لینا میرے نزدیک اس سے زیادہ بہتر ہے۔ تو میں نے اس بات کا ذکر عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے کیا، تو انہوں نے کہا: اللہ تعالیٰ ابوعبدالرحمٰن پر رحم فرمائے، میں خود رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو خوشبو لگاتی تھی، پھر آپ اپنی بیویوں کا چکر لگاتے، پھر آپ اس حال میں صبح کرتے تو آپ کے جسم سے خوشبو پھوٹ رہی ہوتی۔

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ وَاسْمُهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة، قَالَ: خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ فَرَضَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْحَجَّ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: فِي كُلِّ عَام ؟ فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى أَعَادَهُ ثَلاثًا، فَقَالَ: لَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَوَجَبَتْ، وَلَوْ وَجَبَتْ مَا قُمْتُمْ بِهَا، ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ، فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ وَاخْتِلافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ، فَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِالشَّيْءِ، فَخُذُوا بِهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ وَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ .
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم addressed the people and said: 'Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined upon you Hajj.' A man said: 'Every year?' He remained silent until he had repeated it three times. Then he said: 'If I said yes, it would be obligatory, and if it were obligatory you would not be able to do it. Leave me alone so long as I have left you alone. Those who came before you were destroyed because they asked too many questions and differed with their prophets. If I command you to do something then follow it as much as you can, and if I forbid you to do something then avoid it. '
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْجَلِيلِ بْنُ حُمَيْد، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدُّؤَلِيِّ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى كَتَبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْحَجَّ ، فَقَالَ الأَقْرَعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ التَّمِيمِيّ: كُلُّ عَامٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَسَكَتَ، فَقَال: لَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَوَجَبَتْ ثُمَّ إِذًا لَا تَسْمَعُونَ وَلَا تُطِيعُونَ وَلَكِنَّهُ حَجَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ .
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم stood up and said: Allah, Most High, has decreed Hajj for you. Al-Aqra' bin Habis At-Tamimi رضی اللہ عنہ said: Every year, O Messenger of Allah? But he remained silent, then he said: If I said yes, it would become obligatory, then you would not hear and obey. Rather it is just one Hajj.
It was narrated from Abu Razin رضی الله عنہ that:
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ سَالِمٍ، قَال: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَوْسٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ الْحَجَّ وَلَا الْعُمْرَةَ وَلَا الظَّعْن ؟ قَالَ: فَحُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ وَاعْتَمِرْ .
He said: O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man and he cannot perform Hajj or 'Umrah, nor can he travel. He said: Perform Hajj and 'Umrah on behalf of your father.
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah رضی الله عنہ said:
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَمْرٍو الْكَلْبِيُّ، عَنْ زُهَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الْحَجَّةُ الْمَبْرُورَةُ لَيْسَ لَهَا جَزَاءٌ إِلَّا الْجَنَّةُ، وَالْعُمْرَةُ إِلَى الْعُمْرَةِ كَفَّارَةٌ لِمَا بَيْنَهُمَا .
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said: 'Hajj al-Mabrur brings no reward other than Paradise, and from one 'Umrah to another is expiation for what came in between.
