أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: قَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ: يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِرَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، أَنَا وَاللَّهِ أَعْلَمُ بِالْحَدِيثِ مِنْهُ، إِنَّمَا كَانَا رَجُلَيْنِ اقْتَتَلَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا شَأْنُكُمْ فَلَا تُكْرُوا الْمَزَارِعَ . فَسَمِعَ قَوْلَهُ: لَا تُكْرُوا الْمَزَارِعَ .
English Translation
It was narrated that 'Urwah bin Az-Zubair said: Zaid bin Thabit said: 'May Allah forgive Rafi' bin Khadij. By Allah, I have more knowledge of the Hadith than him. We were two men who fought and the Messenger of Allah said: If this is how it is between you, then do not lease land. And he only heard the words: Do not lease land.'
Urdu Translation
زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ تعالیٰ رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ کی مغفرت فرمائے۔ اللہ کی قسم! میں یہ حدیث ان سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں، دو آدمی جھگڑ پڑے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اگر تمہارا یہ حال ہے تو تم کھیتوں کو کرائے پر مت دیا کرو ، تو رافع نے آپ کا صرف یہ قول سن لیا کہ کھیتوں کو کرائے پر نہ دیا کرو ۔

It was narrated from Al-Hasan that he disliked to hire a man without telling him what his wages would be.
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا حِبَّانُ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَأَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ: رَجُلٍ اسْتَأْجَرَ أَجِيرًا عَلَى طَعَامِهِ ؟ قَالَ: لَا حَتَّى تُعْلِمَهُ .
It was narrated from Hammad -Ibn Abi Sulaiman- that he was asked about a man who hired a worker in return for food and he said: No, not until he tells him (what his wages will be).
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، وَقَتَادَةَ: في رجل قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ: أَسْتَكْرِي مِنْكَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ بِكَذَا وَكَذَا، فَإِنْ سِرْتُ شَهْرًا أَوْ كَذَا وَكَذَا شَيْئًا سَمَّاهُ فَلَكَ زِيَادَةُ كَذَا وَكَذَا. فَلَمْ يَرَيَا بِهِ بَأْسًا، وَكَرِهَا أَنْ يَقُولَ: أَسْتَكْرِي مِنْكَ بِكَذَا وَكَذَا، فَإِنْ سِرْتُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ شَهْرٍ نَقَصْتُ مِنْ كِرَائِكَ كَذَا وَكَذَا .
It was narrated from Hammad and Qatadah, concerning a man who said to another man: I will lease (something) from you until I reach Makkah for such and such a payment, and if I travel for a month or such and such -something that he named- I will give you such and such in addition. They did not see anything wrong with that, but they did not like it if he said: If I travel for more than a month I will deduct such and such from your lease.
