Narrated by Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ narrated that:
ہمیں عمران بن بکار نے خبر دی، کہا: ہمیں علی بن عیاش نے بیان کیا، کہا: ہمیں شعیب نے بیان کیا، کہا: مجھے ابوالزناد نے اس روایت سے بیان کیا جو عبدالرحمن الاعرج نے انہیں سنائی تھی, ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، مِمَّا حَدَّثَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجُ، مِمَّا ذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ، يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ، وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ، فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَعَدَلَ، فَإِنَّ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرًا، وَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِغَيْرِهِ، فَإِنَّ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرًا .
Urdu Translation
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :امام ایک ڈھال ہے جس کے زیر سایہ ۱؎ سے لڑا جاتا ہے اور اس کے ذریعہ سے جان بچائی جاتی ہے۔ لہٰذا اگر وہ اللہ سے تقویٰ کا حکم دے اور انصاف کرے تو اسے اس کا اجر ملے گا، اور اگر وہ اس کے علاوہ کا حکم دے تو اس کا وبال اسی پر ہو گا۔
English Translation
Meaning of the narration
The Messenger of Allah ﷺsaid: The Imam is like a shield whose orders should be obeyed when they (the Muslims) fight, and where they should seek protection. If he enjoins fear of Allah and behaves justly, then he will be rewarded, but if he enjoins otherwise, then it will be a burden (of sin) on him.
