أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَتِ الْخَمْرُ لِأَنَّهَا تُرِكَتْ حَتَّى مَضَى صَفْوُهَا وَبَقِيَ كَدَرُهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَكَانَ يَكْرَهُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ يُنْبَذُ عَلَى عَكَرٍ .

Urdu Translation

اردو

خمر کا نام خمر اس لیے پڑا کہ وہ کچھ دیر رکھ چھوڑا جاتا ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ نتھر کر بالکل صاف ہو جاتا ہے، اور نیچے تل چھٹ بیٹھ جاتی ہے، اور وہ ہر اس نبیذ کو مکروہ سمجھتے تھے جس میں تل چھٹ ملا دی گئی ہو۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab said: Khamr is so called because it is left until the good parts are gone and the dregs remain. And he disliked everything that was made by using dregs (by adding new materials to the dregs).
