Narrated by Narrated Sahl Ibn Saad رضی اللہ عنہ :
ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، ہم سے بشر نے بیان کیا، ہم سے ابن المفضل نے بیان کیا، ہم سے عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، یعنی ابن اسحاق نے، عبدالرحمٰن بن معاویہ کی سند سے، ابن ابی ذبا ب کی سند سے, سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ،عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاهِرًا يَدَيْهِ قَطُّ يَدْعُو عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ وَلَا عَلَى غَيْرِهِ، وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا: وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَعَقَدَ الْوُسْطَى بِالْإِبْهَامِ .
Urdu Translation
میں نے کبھی بھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دونوں ہاتھ اٹھا کر اپنے منبر پر دعا مانگتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا اور نہ غیر منبر پر، بلکہ میں نے آپ کو اس طرح کرتے دیکھا اور انہوں نے شہادت کی انگلی سے اشارہ کیا اور بیچ کی انگلی کا انگوٹھے سے حلقہ بنایا۔
English Translation
Meaning of the narration
I never saw the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم raising his hands and praying on the pulpit or otherwise. But I saw him saying (doing) this way, and he would point with his forefinger making a circle by joining the middle finger with his thumb.
