حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ غَزْوَةً وَرَّى غَيْرَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَرْبُ خَدْعَةٌ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ لَمْ يَجِئْ بِهِ إِلَّا مَعْمَرٌ يُرِيدُ قَوْلَهُ الْحَرْبُ خَدْعَةٌ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ إِنَّمَا يُرْوَى مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ.

Urdu Translation

اردو

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب کسی غزوہ کا ارادہ کرتے تو جس سمت جانا ہوتا اس کے علاوہ کا توریہ کرتے اور فرماتے :جنگ دھوکہ کا نام ہے ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے معمر کے سوا کسی اور نے اس سند سے نہیں روایت کیا ہے، وہ اس سے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے قول الحرب خدعة کو مراد لے رہے ہیں، یہ لفظ صرف عمرو بن دینار کے واسطے سے جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے یا معمر کے واسطے سے ہمام بن منبہ سے مروی ہے جسے وہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم intended to go on an expedition, he always pretended to be going somewhere else, and he would say: War is deception. Abu Dawud said: Only Mamar has transmitted this tradition. By this he refers to his statement War is deception through this chain of narrators. He narrated it from the tradition of Amr bin Dinar from Jabir رضی اللہ عنہ , and from the tradition of Mamar from Hammam bin Munabbih on the authority of Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ .
