Narrated by: Ibn Umar رضی اللہ عنہما reported:
احمد بن حنبل اور مسدد نے معنی بیان کیا ہے, احمد نے کہا, مجھ سے یحییٰ القطان نے بیان کیا، عبید اللہ سے، انہوں نے کہا: مجھ سے نافع نے بیان کیا, عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، وَمُسَدَّدٌ الْمَعْنَى، قَالَ أَحْمَدُ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِذَا وُضِعَ عَشَاءُ أَحَدِكُمْ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلَا يَقُومُ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ ، زَادَ مُسَدَّدٌ: وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِذَا وُضِعَ عَشَاؤُهُ أَوْ حَضَرَ عَشَاؤُهُ لَمْ يَقُمْ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ، وَإِنْ سَمِعَ الْإِقَامَةَ، وَإِنْ سَمِعَ قِرَاءَةَ الْإِمَامِ.
English Translation
The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as sayings: When the evening meal is brought before one of you and the congregational prayer is also ready, he should not get up until he finishes (eating). Musaddad’s version adds: When the evening meal was put before Abdullah bin Umar رضی اللہ عنہما, or it was brought to him, he did not get up until he finished it, even if he heard call to prayer (just before it), and even if he heard the recitation of the Quran by the leader-in-prayer.
Urdu Translation
نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کسی کے لیے رات کا کھانا چن دیا جائے اور نماز کے لیے اقامت بھی کہہ دی جائے تو ( نماز کے لیے ) نہ کھڑا ہو یہاں تک کہ ( کھانے سے ) فارغ ہو لے ۔ مسدد نے اتنا اضافہ کیا: جب عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کا کھانا چن دیا جاتا یا ان کا کھانا موجود ہوتا تو اس وقت تک نماز کے لیے نہیں کھڑے ہوتے جب تک کہ کھانے سے فارغ نہ ہو لیتے اگرچہ اقامت اور امام کی قرآت کی آواز کان میں آ رہی ہو ۔

Abdullah bin Umar رضی اللہ عنہما reported:
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْوَلِيمَةِ فَلْيَأْتِهَا .
The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as sayings: when one of you is invited for a wedding feast, he must attend it.
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Ibn Umar to the same effect through a different chain of narrators. This version has the additional words:
حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَاهُ، زَادَ: فَإِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِرًا فَلْيَطْعَمْ، وَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِمًا فَلْيَدْعُ.
If he is not fasting, he should eat, and if he is fasting, he should leave it.
Ibn Umar رضی اللہ عنہما reported:
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيُجِبْ عُرْسًا كَانَ أَوْ نَحْوَهُ .
The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم as saying: if one of you invites his brother, he should accept (the invitation), whether it is a wedding feast or something of that nature.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُصَفَّى، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْدِيُّ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ بِإِسْنَادِ أَيُّوبَ وَمَعْنَاهُ.
The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Nafi to the same effect through the chain of narrators as mentioned in Ayyub.
