ہم سے ابوبکر بن ابی شیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے حسین بن علی نے زاید کی سند سے، شبیب بن غرقدہ البارقی کی سند سے اور سلیمان بن علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے, عمرو بن احوص رضی اللہ عنہ کی سند سے، مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ شَبِيبِ بْنِ غَرْقَدَةَ الْبَارِقِيِّ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَحْوَصِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، وَذَكَّرَ وَوَعَظَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ خَيْرًا، فَإِنَّهُنَّ عِنْدَكُمْ عَوَانٍ لَيْسَ تَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْتِينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍ، فَإِنْ فَعَلْنَ فَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ، وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ضَرْبًا غَيْرَ مُبَرِّحٍ، فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا، إِنَّ لَكُمْ مِنْ نِسَائِكُمْ حَقًّا، وَلِنِسَائِكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَقًّا، فَأَمَّا حَقُّكُمْ عَلَى نِسَائِكُمْ، فَلَا يُوَطِّئَنَّ فُرُشَكُمْ مَنْ تَكْرَهُونَ، وَلَا يَأْذَنَّ فِي بُيُوتِكُمُ لِمَنْ تَكْرَهُونَ، أَلَا وَحَقُّهُنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ، أَنْ تُحْسِنُوا إِلَيْهِنَّ فِي كِسْوَتِهِنَّ، وَطَعَامِهِنَّ .
English Translation
He was present at the Farewell Pilgrimage with the Messenger of Allah. He praised and glorified Allah, and reminded and exhorted (the people). Then he said: 'I enjoin good treatment of women, for they are prisoners with you, and you have no right to treat them otherwise, unless they commit clear indecency. If they do that, then forsake them in their beds and hit them, but without causing injury or leaving a mark. If they obey you, then do not seek means of annoyance against them. You have rights over your women and your women have rights over you. Your rights over your women are that they are not to allow anyone whom you dislike to tread on your bedding (furniture), nor allow anyone whom you dislike to enter your houses. And their right over you are that you should treat them kindly with regard to their clothing and food.' ”
Urdu Translation
وہ حجۃ الوداع میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی اور لوگوں کو وعظ و نصیحت کی، پھر فرمایا: عورتوں کے ساتھ حسن سلوک کرنے کی میری وصیت قبول کرو، اس لیے کہ عورتیں تمہاری ماتحت ہیں، لہٰذا تم ان سے اس ( جماع ) کے علاوہ کسی اور چیز کے مالک نہیں ہو، الا یہ کہ وہ کھلی بدکاری کریں، اگر وہ ایسا کریں تو ان کو خواب گاہ سے جدا کر دو، ان کو مارو لیکن سخت مار نہ مارو، اگر وہ تمہاری بات مان لیں تو پھر ان پر زیادتی کے لیے کوئی بہانہ نہ ڈھونڈو، تمہارا عورتوں پر حق ہے، اور ان کا حق تم پر ہے، عورتوں پر تمہارا حق یہ ہے کہ وہ تمہارا بستر ایسے شخص کو روندنے نہ دیں جسے تم ناپسند کرتے ہو اور وہ کسی ایسے شخص کو تمہارے گھروں میں آنے کی اجازت نہ دیں، جسے تم ناپسند کرتے ہو، سنو! اور ان کا حق تم پر یہ ہے کہ تم اچھی طرح ان کو کھانا اور کپڑا دو ۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ بِمِنًى، فَخَلَا بِهِ عُثْمَانُ، فَجَلَسْتُ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ: هَلْ لَكَ أَنْ أُزَوِّجَكَ جَارِيَةً بِكْرًا تُذَكِّرُكَ مِنْ نَفْسِكَ بَعْضَ مَا قَدْ مَضَى؟، فَلَمَّا رَأَى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ سِوَى هَذِهِ، أَشَارَ إِلَيَّ بِيَدِهِ فَجِئْتُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: لَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَلِكَ، لَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ الشَّبَابِ، مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمُ الْبَاءَةَ فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، فَإِنَّهُ أَغَضُّ لِلْبَصَرِ، وَأَحْصَنُ لِلْفَرْجِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصَّوْمِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ وِجَاءٌ .
“I was with Abdullah bin Masud رضی اللہ عنہ in Mina, and Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ took him aside. I was sitting near him. Uthman رضی اللہ عنہ said to him: 'Would you like that I marry you to a young virgin who will remind you of how you were in the past?' When Abdullah رضی اللہ عنہ saw that he did not say anything to him apart from that, he gestured to me, so I came and he said: 'As you say that the Messenger of Allah said “O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding one's chastity. Whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will diminish his desire.” ' ”
It was narrated from Aishah رضی اللہ عنہا that:
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْأَزْهَرِ، حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: النِّكَاحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِسُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي، وَتَزَوَّجُوا فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمُ الْأُمَمَ، وَمَنْ كَانَ ذَا طَوْلٍ فَلْيَنْكِحْ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصِّيَامِ، فَإِنَّ الصَّوْمَ لَهُ وِجَاءٌ .
The Messenger of Allah said: “Marriage is part of my sunnah, and whoever does not follow my sunnah has nothing to do with me. Get married, for I will boast of your great numbers before the nations. Whoever has the means, let him get married, and whoever does not, then he should fast for it will diminish his desire.”
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas رضی اللہ عنہما that:
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَمْ نَرَ لِلْمُتَحَابَّيْنِ مِثْلَ النِّكَاحِ .
The Messenger of Allah said: “There is nothing like marriage, for two who love one another.”
It was narrated that: Sa'd رضی اللہ عنہ said:
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْوَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعُثْمَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: لَقَدْ رَدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ التَّبَتُّلَ، وَلَوْ أَذِنَ لَهُ لَاخْتَصَيْنَا .
“The Messenger of Allah disapproved of Uthman bin Maz'un's رضی اللہ عنہ desire to remain celibate; if he had given him permission, we would have gotten ourselves castrated.”
