Narrated by: It was narrated that Abu Musa رضی اللہ عنہ said:
ہم سے علی بن محمد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے وکیع نے بیان کیا، ہم سے مسعودی نے بیان کیا، عمرو بن مرہ نے ابو عبیدہ سے, ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَنَامُ، وَلَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَنَامَ يَخْفِضُ الْقِسْطَ وَيَرْفَعُهُ، حِجَابُهُ النُّورُ لَوْ كَشَفَهَا لَأَحْرَقَتْ سُبُحَاتُ وَجْهِهِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَدْرَكَهُ بَصَرُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: أَنْ بُورِكَ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ[ سورة النمل آية 8].
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah does not sleep, and it is not befitting that He should sleep. He lowers the Scales and raises them. His Veil is Light, and if He were to remove it, the glory of his Face would burn everything of His creation, as far as His gaze reaches.' Then Abu 'Ubaidah recited the verse: 'Blessed is whosoever is in the fire, (i.e. the light of Allah) and whosoever is round about it! And Glorified is Allah, the Lord of all that exists.
Urdu Translation
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: بیشک اللہ تعالیٰ سوتا نہیں اور اس کے لیے مناسب بھی نہیں کہ سوئے، میزان کو جھکاتا اور بلند کرتا ہے، اس کا حجاب نور ہے، اگر وہ اس حجاب کو ہٹا دے تو اس کے چہرے کی تجلیاں ان تمام چیزوں کو جلا دیں جہاں تک اس کی نظر جائے ، پھر ابوعبیدہ نے آیت کریمہ کی تلاوت فرمائی: «أن بورك من في النار ومن حولها وسبحان الله رب العالمين» کہ بابرکت ہے وہ جو اس آگ میں ہے اور برکت دیا گیا ہے وہ جو اس کے آس پاس ہے اور اللہ جو تمام جہانوں کا پالنے والا ہے ( سورة النمل: 8 ) ۔

Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ said:
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَال: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَخُذُوهُ، وَمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا .
The Prophet said: Whatever I have commanded you do it, and whatever I have forbidden you, refrain from it.
Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ said:
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِسُؤَالِهِمْ، وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ، فَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ فَخُذُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ، وَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَانْتَهُوا .
The Prophet said: Leave me as I have left you (Don't ask me the minor things that I have avoided to tell you). For those who came before you were doomed because of their questions and differences with their Prophets. If I commanded you to do something, then do as much of it as you can, and if I forbid you from doing something, then refrain from it.
Abu Hurairah رضی اللہ عنہ said:
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَوَكِيعٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ، وَمَنْ عَصَانِي فَقَدْ عَصَى اللَّهَ .
The Prophet said: Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah; and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah.
Abu Ja'far said:
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُوقَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا لَمْ يَعْدُهُ وَلَمْ يُقَصِّرْ دُونَهُ .
Whenever Ibn 'Umar رضی اللہ عنہما heard a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he would not do more than it said, and he would not do less.
