حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَسْوَدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبَ بْنَ سُفْيَانَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمْ يَقُمْ لَيْلَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلاَثًا، فَجَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ فَقَالَتْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ شَيْطَانُكَ قَدْ تَرَكَكَ، لَمْ أَرَهُ قَرِبَكَ مُنْذُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلاَثًا‏.‏ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏{‏وَالضُّحَى * وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَى * مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى‏}‏

Urdu Translation

اردو

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیمار پڑ گئے اور دو یا تین راتوں کو ( تہجد کے لیے ) نہیں اٹھ سکے۔ پھر ایک عورت ( ابولہب کی عورت عوراء ) آئی اور کہنے لگی۔ اے محمد! میرا خیال ہے کہ تمہارے شیطان نے تمہیں چھوڑ دیا ہے۔ دو یا تین راتوں سے دیکھ رہی ہوں کہ تمہارے پاس وہ نہیں آیا۔ اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل کی والضحى * والليل إذا سجى * ما ودعك ربك وما قلى‏ آخر تک یعنی قسم ہے دن کی روشنی کی اور رات کی جب وہ قرار پکڑے کہ آپ کے پروردگار نے نہ آپ کو چھوڑا ہے اور نہ آپ سے بیزار ہوا ہے۔

English Translation

Meaning of the narration

Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) became sick and could not offer his night prayer (Tahajjud) for two or three nights. Then a lady (the wife of Abu Lahab) came and said, "O Muhammad! I think that your Satan has forsaken you, for I have not seen him with you for two or three nights!" On that Allah revealed: 'By the fore-noon, and by the night when it darkens, your Lord (O Muhammad) has neither forsaken you, nor hated you.' (93.1-3)
