Ayah 1:1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ١
In the name of Allāh,1 the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.2
Ayah 1:2
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ٢
[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Lord1 of the worlds -
Ayah 1:3
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ٣
The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
Ayah 1:4
مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ٤
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.1
Ayah 1:5
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ٥
It is You we worship and You we ask for help.
Ayah 1:6
ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ٦
Guide us to the straight path -
Ayah 1:7
صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ٧
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
Surah Al-Faatiha is the opening chapter of the Quran and is recited in every unit of Muslim prayer (Salah). Known as Umm al-Kitab (Mother of the Book), its seven ayahs summarise the core themes of the entire Quran — praise of Allah, seeking guidance, and the straight path.
