ٱلْقَارِعَةُ١
English translation
The Striking Calamity -

Ayah 101:2
مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ٢
English translation
What is the Striking Calamity?

Ayah 101:3
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ٣
English translation
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?

Ayah 101:4
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ٤
English translation
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,1
5
Ayah 101:5
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ٥
English translation
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.1
6
Ayah 101:6
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ٦
English translation
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
7
Ayah 101:7
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ٧
English translation
He will be in a pleasant life.
8
Ayah 101:8
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ٨
English translation
But as for one whose scales are light,
9
Ayah 101:9
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ٩
English translation
His refuge1 will be an abyss.2
10
Ayah 101:10
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ١٠
English translation
And what can make you know what that is?
11
Ayah 101:11
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ١١
English translation
It is a Fire, intensely hot.
