العَلَقِ

Ayah 96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ١
Recite in the name of your Lord who created
Ayah 96:2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ٢
Created man from a clinging substance.
Ayah 96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ٣
Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -
Ayah 96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ٤
Who taught by the pen
Ayah 96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ٥
Taught man that which he knew not.
Ayah 96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ٦
No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
Ayah 96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ٧
Because he sees himself self-sufficient.
Ayah 96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ٨
Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
Ayah 96:9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ٩
Have you seen the one who forbids
Ayah 96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ١٠
A servant when he prays?
Ayah 96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ١١
Have you seen if he is upon guidance
Ayah 96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ١٢
Or enjoins righteousness?
Ayah 96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ١٣
Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
Ayah 96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ١٤
Does he not know that Allāh sees?
Ayah 96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ١٥
No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock1
Ayah 96:16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ١٦
A lying, sinning forelock.
Ayah 96:17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ١٧
Then let him call his associates;
Ayah 96:18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ١٨
We will call the angels of Hell.1
Ayah 96:19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩١٩
No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allāh].
